Portland’s Condo Market: The Front Lines

The Portland Peninsula condo market continues to flourish as we move into the second half of 2017. Currently there are 80 condo units for sale; a total of 132 units have already sold in 2017. Prices ranged from $179,000 to $1,600,000.

The new construction segment of the market (defined as units built 2016 or later) represents 36 of the 80 units on the market right now. Additionally, 27 such units are currently under contract. The Mason Block condominiums located at 62 India Street are 50% sold; sales launched approximately 3 months ago.

The urban condo lifestyle appeals to a broad swath of buyers, from young professionals to those looking to downsize out of the family home.  Most condo buyers seek walkability, elevator access, covered parking, outdoor/deck space, fireplace, and sophisticated appointments. As with single-family homes, buyers prefer open concept floor plans and upscale kitchens and bathrooms.
